Senator Kit Bond is pushing to change the insurance law so more self employed people, and more small businesses, can afford employee health insurance. Those costs can be partly deductible from federal taxes now. Bond wants to make them fully deductible. He says more than one million children are without adequate health insurance because their self-employed parents, or parents working for small businesses, are not provided with health insurance. He says that number will be reduced if the insurance costs are tax-deductible.
