Keeping scenic byways scenic

January 27, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Some Branson businesses are unhappy with the state transportation department because it plans to regulate a scenic byway. Engineer David Miller says the city does not have many options, other than expressing unhappiness about the state plans for limited signs along the new Ozark Mountain High Road. He says the signs proposed by the highway department meet federal standards for signs and says MODOT is “under a lot of limitations,” with little opportunity to go outside the standards. He says business owners worry the signs won’t direct travelers to the routes going to popular tourist attractions.
