GOP considers senate control

January 26, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Republicans are ready to take control of the state senate as soon as the elections of two new republican senators are certified. They control the state senate for the first time in 52 years. And their leader in Senator Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau, until now sharing power with Senator Ed Quick of Kansas City, says Republicans want fiscal responsibility. The House remains under democrat control and Governor Holden is a democrat. Kinder says he’s already had some conversations with Holden, and is eager to hear what programs Holden puts forth in his state of the state address next week.
