Private jails or prisons wouldn’t be allowed to operate in Missouri under a law being considered by a state senate committee. Sponsor Larry Rohrbach of California says history testifies against privately operated prisons. But a part owner of a private jail near Warrensburg disagrees. It houses nearly 200 inmates and is at capacity.
