Missouri is in the midst of flu season and health officials are advising that some people getting their flu shots should get a second shot — a pneumococcal vaccine shot. Sue Denny of the state Department of Health says not everyone should get this shot, just people who are high-risk. It protects from a variety of types of pneumonia. High-risk persons include those 65-years-old and older, residents of nursing homes and other chronic-care facilities, and children who are receiving long-term aspirin therapy.
