The vote on John Ashcroft’s attorney general nomination has been delayed by a week in the senate judiciary committee. Democrats on the committee say they need to evaluate more information and give Ashcroft time to respond to written questions from the senators. They have submitted more than 200 questions for Ashcroft to answer, which the nominee is reportedly working on. President Bush believes all 50 Republicans in the Senate will vote for Ashcroft; his advisors think another 10-20 Democrats will also vote to approve the controversial nominee.
