44% increase approved for MGE

January 23, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The Public Service Commission voted 3-to-2 today to raise natural gas rates for Missouri-Gas-Energy customers by 44%. After their vote, commissioners heard from Rep. Dennis Bonner, Kansas City. He plans to work with other legislators to remove the 3 commissioners from office who voted in favor of the plan. One of the two commissioners who voted against the idea wanted to see the increase phased-in; the other commissioner wanted more investigation into the cause for the increase. Laclede gas could get a similar increase approved on Thursday.
