University of Missouri Curators have approved a system-wide 3.4% tuition increase and a 4% increase in room and board rates. The increases leave Missouri with the highest tuition rates in the Big 12. James Cofer, Vice President of Finance and Administration for the UM system, says curators increased tuition 12% per year for five years after a proposition to raise taxes for higher education failed in 1992. Since the program ended, rates have gone up at 3.4 percent each year. The new rates mean undergraduate tuition is $141 per credit hour. Graduate students have to pay $179.10 per hour.
