There is new optimism that Missouri will pass .08 legislation this year. The senate sponsor of the bill says the revelation by Anheiser-Busch that it will no longer oppose the measure helps. Senator Morris Westfall of Halfway says he’s “very optimistic” the bill will pass. And he says not making it law could cost Missouri upwards of $50 million in highway construction funding by 2007. The company’s chief lobbyist told a senate committee this week the company would no longer oppose the measure.
