A pledge from John Ashcroft that if he is confirmed as Attorney General he will do all he can to uphold America’s laws. The former Senator made the pledge during Day One of his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill. “The attorney general is the people’s counsel,” he said. “I pledge to you that if I am confirmed as attorney general, I will be attorney general for all…the…people.” The hearing resumes this morning and is expected to continue through tomorrow at least.
