State comforted by talks with TWA

January 11, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

State officials seem to be optimistic about the pending buyout of St. Louis-based TWA by American Airlines. Economic Development Director Joe Driskill has had a chance to meet with American officials, and is very pleased to learn that most jobs will be kept. He says American has “assured” the state that union jobs will remain. And Driskill says there should be very little change at the airports in Kansas City and St. Louis. Driskill says he’ll be spending the next few months trying to maintain and improve commuter airline service to the state’s smaller cities.
