MGE renews rate climb

January 11, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri Gas Energy has filed a request for an emergency rate increase. The jump could raise gas bills 50%. The average MGE bill could hit $250 a month. Snider blames the increase on skyrocketing wholesale prices; he says MGE is paying a lot more for the gas than customers are paying for it. Snider claims the company has been losing money since June, and could lose $100 million by next summer if something doesn’t change.
