Wilson rejects clemency plea

January 8, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A man convicted of murdering a 17 year old girl in Lawrence County 11 years ago will not get clemency from outgoing Governor Roger Wilson. Wilson’s lawyer went to Springfield during the weekend to talk to the mother of Angela Lyn Fortner, about the commutation request from Bret Arbuckle of Miller. The request has been pending for months. Fortner’s mother says she does not want Arbuckle’s conviction reduced to a lesser crime, which would let him come up for parole sooner. Wilson has decided not to allow clemency. Arbuckle is eligible for a parole hearing in two years.
