Congresswoman Karen McCarthy is getting set to take Jake’s Law nationwide. McCarthy hopes Missouri passes its own version of the law before Congress does. Jake’s Law would require police to check for outstanding warrants before releasing inmates from jail. The measure is named after the six-year-old boy who was dragged to death during an attempted carjacking in Independence. The man accused in the death of Jake Robel had been released from jail that same day, despite being wanted on an outstanding warrant.
