The new Speaker of the Missouri House pledges to listen. Representative Jim Kreider of Nixa addresses the body after being elected speaker. He tells colleagues its not necessarily those with the loudest voice that have the greatest need. “Often the softest voice is the one that should guide our actions…the voice of our children…the voice of our seniors,” he said. Kreider pledges to respect each member of the body, whether with the Democrats, the majority party, or the Republicans. He says he wants to end the partisan bickering that have soured the last few legislative sessions. Kreider replaces former House Speaker Steve Gaw, who lost his race for Secretary of State.
