Guard role limited in inauguration

January 2, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Bob Priddy Orders from the Pentagon have reduced the role of the National Guard in next Monday’s inauguration ceremonies at the state Capitol. The guard’s project officer for the inauguration, Mike Gunther, says the National Guard bureau has limited federal participation in state ceremonies. Some of the things the National Guard did in past ceremonies are being handled by other state workers or contract employees. Gunther says the Guard will still have a presence in the inaugural parade, and will provide the fighters for the jet flyover during the swearing-in.
