Prosecutor proud of finance unit

January 1, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A special unit in the federal prosecutor’s office in Kansas City collected more than $9 million in criminal fines, civil judgments and forfeitures during the past fiscal year. Federal prosecutor Steve Hill says his Financial Litigation Unit always performs well, but this year did an exceptional job on one particular case in which it recovered nearly $6 million bilked from about 2,000 victims. Hill says the unit went to work quickly once the office busted the investment fraud scheme of Global Concepts. The $9 million total for the unit last year is four times the amount collected the year before.
