Democrats foresee bipartisanship

December 20, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

One Missouri congressman doesn’t think the nearly-even split in Washington is all that bad. Ike Skelton says it may force Republicans and Democrats to work together. He regrets the lack of civility and bi-partisanship in government over the last several years. Congresswoman Karen McCarthy’s assessment isn’t quite so condemning. She says a lot more bi-partisan work gets done than most voters think. She also expects a good year on Capitol Hill next year and hopes to make progress on prescription drugs, campaign finance reform, and election reform.
