Proponents of a plan to reintroduce elk into parts of the state are being given two years to fine-tune their proposal. The Missouri Conservation Commission feels many Missourians are concerned about the idea. Commission member Anita Gorman says there will be further study to researchthe merits of reintroducing elk into Missouri. She says its an acknowledgement of the many people who are concerned about elk. Many farmers have expressed concern about the elk and how destructive they can be to property, especially during the “rut,” their mating season.
