Whether it’s 20 degrees below zero or 80 degrees above, Mike Wright with the AAA says we should all keep blankets in our cars. In the winter, the blanket can keep you alive if you break down in the middle of nowhere. And in the summer, you might need the blanket to keep someone warm who’s been injured and in danger of going into shock. Besides that, Wright suggests keeping an ice scraper in your car, de-icer, jumper cables, and extra windshield wiper fluid. And perhaps more important than anything else, a cell phone. Wright cautions against leaving your car if you break down, particularly in weather like we’re seeing this week, if you don’t know precisely where you’re going and how long you’ll be exposed to the elements.
