Toxic shock death leads to suit

December 8, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The death of an Independence woman has lead to a multi million dollar lawsuit against the Truman Medical Center. The family of Kelly Thornbury claim she died after using a Kotex tampon earlier this year. Her toxic shock syndrome was allegedly misdiagnosed when she first arrived at Truman. Before she died, doctors amputated all four of her limbs to try and stop the spread of the illness. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
