St. Louis election decision overturned

December 7, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Court of Appeals in St. Louis has released its opinion on the Election Day decision ordering the polls in St. Louis to remain open past 7:00. The Court says the circuit judge who made the order was wrong. Catherine Hanaway, the House Republican leader in Jefferson City, agrees. She says people who showed up late were not entitled to vote. Hanaway says the Appeals Court has made it clear that by keeping the polls open late the judge gave St. Louis residents an opportunity that was not available to other Missourians. And that, she says, is illegal.
