More than 250 Missouri Christmas farms are churning out a lot of Christmas trees this year. Bruce Palmer with the state department of conservation says we’re kind of a one-tree state for Christmas–almost all Scotch Pines, with just a few White Pines. Palmer says more than a few of the Christmas tree sellers in Missouri make them their prime source of income. Back in 1997, the last year state officials kept track, Christmas tree farms in Missouri sold more than $1.5 million worth of trees. He thinks they’re popular because of their low cost and pleasant smell.
