Tragedy strikes SBU campus

December 4, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Three students from Southwest Baptist University have been killed. The car they were riding in went off a road north of Springfield and hit a tree, then caught fire near Springfield. SBU President C. Pat Taylor says no words can express the grief faculty and students are feeling. Killed were Byron Phillips, Gregory Germany, and Mary Miller. The driver and another passenger survived the crash. The Missouri highway patrol says a preliminary investigation of the crash shows alcohol may have played a role in the deaths.
