Conservation and Department of Natural Resources officials are investigating the reported spill of 500,000 gallons of hog waste in Moniteau Creek in Howard County. Karen Bataille, an environmental biologist with the conservation department, is trying to assess the impact on aquatic life. She says they haven’t found much so far, just a few dead minnows. The spill occurred late last week at a farm that has 600 hogs. It is moving towards Rocheport and should spill into the Missouri River soon, which will actually dilute its impact.
