The Missouri School Fund stands to benefit to the tune of $1 million as a result of a settlement in a dispute between the Missouri Gaming Commission and Station Casinos, which operates riverboats in St. Charles and Kansas City. Mark Van Zandt of the Department of Education says money put into the fund helps schools throughout the state. Van Zandt points out that money which makes its way to the state’s school districts is administered at the local level. The money apparently won’t go to the schools straightaway, but will instead be invested first.
