Study: 5% of Missourians dependent

The federal department of health and human services estimates more than a quarter million Missourians are drug or alcohol dependent. The head of the state division of drug and alcohol abuse, Michael Couty, says the state has several program that can help. He says the state needs help from families to work with those people and needs the help of families to spot problems. The study estimates 5% of Missourians have drug and drinking problems and that drug and alcohol problems are highest in the18-25 age range.
