Officials at the Kansas City zoo are excited about an upcoming birth. The female African elephant at the zoo is pregnant. She has been pregnant for quite some time, but Zoo Curator Conrad Schmitt waited until Thanksgiving to inform the public. “Lady” is 32, and would be the oldest elephant in captivity to give birth. She would also be the first elephant to give birth at the Kansas City Zoo. The pregnancy is a bit over halfway done, but still about 10 months away from birth.
