The manager of the Central Missouri Food Bank urges Missourians to remember the poor this Thanksgiving. Peggy Kirkpatrick says at this time of prosperity people might overlook the “underemployed,” who are struggling. She says such families cut out protein most often, because meat is expensive. Many grocery stores in the state participate in the “Check Out Hunger” program where shoppers can add a dollar or two on their bill that goes to food banks.
