Nixon begins .08 campaign

November 22, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Jay Nixon has had enough of lawmakers who refuse to vote for .08 drunk driving legislation. The state attorney general has joined Mothers Against Drunk Driving to launch a campaign called “Keep it straight .08.” He’s hoping to force a vote on .08 legislation, with no amendments or other distractions. Last year, a bill to reduce the legal threshold for drunk driving died in the Missouri senate on the last day of the general assembly. Nixon says the legislation is especially important this year with the federal government prepared to cut more funding of states that don’t agree to the lower limit.
