Parts of the country are being blasted this week by severe early winter weather and road crews are doing what they can to keep the highways clear. If you’re wondering how Missouri would handle a major storm like the one that’s hit the Northeast, Don Hillis, the state maintenance engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation, says this state is ready to keep the highways clear of snow. Hillis says the state can rely on contractors in the event of extremely heavy snows, and can move resources from other parts of the state. Hillis says that while mild winters cannot be taken for granted, he’s happy that Buffalo’s two feet of snow is NOT common in this state.
