Senator Kit Bond says he will do all he can to welcome Jean Carnahan to the U.S. Senate. Bond, a republican, supported the re-election bid of John Ashcroft, also a republican. But Bond says the election is over and now its time to help Missouri’s newest Senator get acquainted with her new surroundings. Bond says he agrees with Senator Ashcroft that no legal challenge should be mounted to keep Jean Carnahan from assuming the seat her late husband won. He is still calling for a federal investigation of reports of voter fraud in St. Louis.
