Kansas City officials have a new plan to rehabilitate the city’s urban core. Mayor Kay Barnes announced the plans yesterday for an area stretching from the Missouri River, south to the Country Club Plaza. Barnes says the idea is to revitalize the central downtown and connect it with other upscale areas like the Plaza and Crown Center. Barnes has dubbed the larger, inter-connected downtown “River Crown Plaza.” Her plan includes construction of an additional 10,000 housing units to attract new business.
