Columbia hospitals cutting back

November 17, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Several dozen employees are being laid-off at the University of Missouri Health Care system in Columbia. Director of University Hospital Keith Weinhold confirmed today they’re laying-off 43 full-time and 17 part-time employees at University Hospital, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, and Columbia Regional Hospital. They’ve also eliminated more than 175 other jobs since July through attrition, closed the obstetrics unit at Columbia Regional, and combined many duplicate services. The school is trying to avoid a projected $80 million dollar deficit over the next three years.
