As a result of last week’s election, the number of women serving as state lawmakers in Missouri will hit an all-time high. Vivian Eveloff, director of the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, says women are reaching new heights. The new legislature will see 6 women among 34 state senators, and 41 women among 163 state representatives. And then there’s Jean Carnahan, who is headed for the U.S. Senate in place of her late husband, Governor Mel Carnahan.
