Wife of condemned inmate distraught

November 15, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Prison inmate James chambers died quietly overnight, surrounded by anguish outside the execution chamber. As Darlene Chambers sobbed uncontrollably and pounded on the glass of the death penalty chamber, a witness in another section, presumably a family member of victim Jerry Oestricker, shouted, “Now you know how it feels.” Mrs. Chambers cries filled the Potosi prison and the normally-quiet chamber long after her husband was pronounced dead at 12:05. He shot Oestricker during a bar fight in Arnold in 1982.
