Missouri education officials are offering their support for the leadership in the Kansas City school district. Director of the department of education, Kent King, was in town yesterday to meet with the school district’s executive committee. Committee member Patricia Kurtz says King emphasized his support for Superintendent Benjamin Demps; however he remains concerned about standardized test scores. If the district doesn’t earn provisional accreditation by June, 2002, it could be taken over by the state.
