Mo republicans elect new leader

November 10, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Senate Republicans have chosen Cape Girardeau Senator Peter Kinder as their leader. If they eventually wind up with the majority in the state Senate, he will become their president pro-tem. Vacancies caused by senators being elected to other offices Tuesday leave the question of majority control of the state senate up in the air. Kinder promises to work in a “sober, temperate manner without excessive partisanship.” Ladue Senator Betty Sims was chosen as the senate’s assistant republican floor leader. Democrats have not chosen their leaders yet. They wanted to wait to see what the republicans did.
