Missouri’s electors are free to vote for whoever they want to. We are one of the states where electors have the latitude to switch their votes. Brett Berri with the Missouri secretary of states office says, though, that’s rare, because the electors are party activists bound by party loyalty to the popularly-elected candidate. Executive director of the republican party in Missouri, John Hancock, says the party doesn’t even require an oath from the electors. However, he has no doubt Missouri’s electors will vote for Bush. The group meets in Jefferson City on December 18th to officially cast its ballots.
