The man who won’t be moving into the Governor’s Mansion next year says he tried to take the high road. Congressman Jim Talent, the runner-up to Bob Holden, says he’s especially proud of what he describes as issue-oriented advertising that deliberately avoided political attacks. Talent also isn’t soured by the trend of St. Louis-area politicians being turned away from the governor’s office. He doesn’t think a politician’s hometown has that much to do with a voter’s final decision. His only regret–not being able to address Missouri education.
