GOP bitter over St. Louis polls

November 8, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Republicans are angry about democrats’ efforts to keep polls open past closing time last night in St. Louis. Democrats got a circuit judge to order polls to stay open because of confusion about the eligibility of some voters. An appeals court reversed the order at 7:50p.m. State republican party chairman Ann Wagner is livid. She calls it an “outrage” to the people of Missouri. Wagner says there were reports of voting irregularities from voting judges leaving their ballot areas, to ballot boxes being abandoned, to unregistered voters being allowed to cast ballots. Senator Kit Bond also excoriated democrats for what he called a criminal enterprise. For more detailed election returns, see the Missouri secretary of state’s website at http://sosweb.sos.state.mo.us/enrweb/.
