Missouri House Speaker Steve Gaw invoked the memory of Governor Carnahan during his concession speech in the secretary of state’s race. He lost by a large margin to republican Matt Blunt. Gaw mentioned the candidate who WASN’T there, when he conceded the race before democratic supporters. “I would trade my race any day to see Mel Carnahan win the United States Senate.” Blunt won slightly more than 51% of the vote to Gaw’s 45%.
