Raiders Trounce Chiefs, Lead By 3

November 6, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The deficit in the AFC West may be too much for the Chiefs to overcome now. Former Chief Rich Gannon threw four touchdown passes as the Raiders whipped the Chiefs 49-31 to take a three game lead in the division. Elvis Grbac threw for an insane 504 yards, and two touchdowns, but the Chiefs managed just 39 yards rushing. Tony Gonzlez had nine catches for 134 yards, becoming the first tight end in NFL history to get 100 yards in four straight games. Derrick Alexander had nine receptions for 139 yards. Andre Rison, released by the Chiefs this preseason, burned them with two touchdown catches. The Chiefs have won five of their last seven games, but both losses are to the Raiders. Oakland is 8-1, the Chiefs fall to 5-4. Kansas City plays in San Francisco next week.
