The last weekend of the campaign for the U.S. senate in Missouri features competing musical rallies. Rock music artist Sheryl Crow, a Kennett native, got in touch with the Carnahan campaign after she heard about the airplane crash and offered to do a benefit. It’s tonight, in St. Louis and any profits go to one of Mel Carnahan’s favorite charities, the Children’s Trust Fund. The Ashcroft campaign also is having a musical rally tonight. It’s in St. Louis County, featuring country star Randy Travis. An Ashcroft campaign spokesman says events like these are important in building and maintaining momentum and enthusiasm down the stretch.
