Charges fly in senate race

The leader of the state republican party is insulted by any hint that Republicans might be behind a telephone campaign urging people to write-in the name of Jean Carnahan for the U-S Senate. That write-in vote will not be counted because she is not certified as a write-in candidate. Republican chairman Ann Wagner says Republicans are not involved. State democratic executive director Roy Temple says republicans have EVERY interest in diverting votes away from Mel Carnahan, who remains the legal candidate.
