Missourians seem to favor emphasizing repair and maintenance of the present highway system more than they favor building a lot of new roads. A coalition of groups called Transport Missouri says it has taken the pulse of Missourians, and organization President Rodney Gray says the sentiment is for repair. But Gray says the coalition did not ask Missourians how they’d pay for a stepped-up maintenance program. Earlier this week, the Kansas City Star reported the Mason-Dixon polling firm had found only 29% of likely voters support a push to finish the 15-year-plan promoted by republican candidate for governor Jim Talent.
