A pledge from one of the candidates for State Treasurer to keep a close watch on state spending, regardless of who moves into the governor’s mansion in January. Republican Todd Graves says the state treasurer must serve as a government watchdog, and must remain independent. Graves says that while the treasurer cannot say “no” to the governor’s and legislators’ decisions on spending, he CAN ask a lot of questions.
