Gephardt criticizes tax tactics

October 31, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Republican tactics used in pushing a 240-billion dollar tax bill through the House have been attacked by the leader of House democrats. St. Louis congressman Richard Gephardt says Republican efforts are going to turn to nothing eventually. Democrats complain the Republicans threw a 960-page bill on the desks of House members just a few hours before pushing it through to passage. Gephardt says the Congress will just have to keep passing continuing resolutions to keep financing government operations on an interim basis until an agreeable package can be worked out.
