The University of Missouri-Columbia is now guaranteed the $30 million in federal funding it will need to build a new life sciences building. Congress has appropriated the second half of the money needed for the project. Columbia campus chancellor Richard Wallace says the money will help fulfill many dreams. The new building will have dozens of labs doing for research on small animals, insects, and plants. The timetable calls for it to be ready to go in early 2004.
