It’s an election issue that hasn’t received as much attention as its opponents and proponents had hoped it would have received. Voters next week will have a chance to say “yes” or “no” to Proposition A, which would limit the number of billboards along Missouri’s highways. Karl Kruse of Save Our Scenery 2000 says this will NOT mean an end to billboard advertising in the state. Bill May of Citizens Against Tax Waste says that’s not quite true. He claims passage of Proposition A would lead to the removal of some billboards at taxpayer expense. May insists the goal of Proposition A’s supporters is the eventual elimination la ALL outdoor advertising.
